History

Aluminium Shapes was established in the mid 1980’s. Its’ founder, Nigel Fuller, had identified that the aluminium extrusions industry was dominated by large companies that were inflexible in terms of lead times, batch sizes and capability.

Aluminium-extrusions-long-lengths

‘Ali Shapes’ filled a gap in the market by looking to deliver what many customers wanted, when they wanted it. In the early 90’s, the mass market was Georgian Bar.

This is the tiny aluminium section you see in double glazed units and in carpet trim. It was a huge market back then but changed with the popularity of wooden flooring.

In the noughties, we focused on the domestic appliances market, predominantly cooker doors (Stoves and Glen Dimplex). This is still an important market for us.

Volume

Now one of our big priorities is the air diffusion market. Our ability to produce high volume thin sections for heating and ventilating has seen us corner a significant part of the building sector, along with lighting.

Sector and application neutral, we’ve always been passionate about helping customers make the aluminium impossible, possible.

Flexibility

So whether it was working in the booming industry of carpet trim through to working in the supply for major uses like Tesco, Bentley and Apple, the team at Ali Shapes remains fully committed to deliver our unique brand of flexibility to the extrusions market.

Thirty years since inception, our multi-press operation in Corby combined with our unique ability to problem solve provides for those must-deliver short lead times; for sections and batch sizes that our customer demand.

We believe that this ethos sets us apart in our industry. We have both direct and indirect presses plus an extensive range of fabrication.

Customers first

Our customer first attitude that flows through all levels and departments will help us secure our place at the forefront of a demanding market as we continue to work with customers, new and old and challenge the traditional ‘rules of extrusion’.
