sustainbility

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword – it’s a commitment we take seriously at every level of our business.

Shaping a Sustainable Future

Shaping a Sustainable
Future

As manufacturers of aluminium extrusions, we are proud to work with a material that is naturally sustainable, infinitely recyclable, and central to building a lower-carbon future. But we go beyond the material itself, embedding environmentally responsible practices into our production processes, procurement decisions, and day-to-day operations.

Aluminium is one of the most recycled and recyclable materials in the world. Unlike many other metals, it doesn’t degrade during the recycling process – meaning it can be reused endlessly without compromising quality. Using recycled aluminium requires up to 95 percent less energy than producing primary metal, significantly reducing carbon emissions. As such, we work closely with our suppliers to maximise the use of recycled content and ensure our materials support a true circular economy.

Our Environmental Commitments

Our sustainability approach is built on three core principles: efficiency, responsibility, and continuous improvement. We take active steps to reduce our environmental impact across all parts of our business, from raw material sourcing within the UK to extrusion, finishing and delivery.

Efficient, Low-Waste Manufacturing

Our extrusion presses are optimised for precision and energy efficiency, ensuring maximum output from every billet while minimising material waste.

Recycling and Resource Recovery

We recycle all aluminium scrap from extrusion and machining, along with packaging, pallets, coolant, and other materials - reducing landfill and supporting a circular economy.

Energy Awareness

We continuously monitor our energy usage and invest in process optimisation to reduce electricity and gas consumption wherever possible.

Localised Supply Chains

By handling everything in-house and delivering with our own UK-wide fleet, we reduce unnecessary transportation miles and minimise carbon impact from logistics.

Compliance and Certifications

We are committed to maintaining high standards of environmental compliance. We work to ISO 9001 certified quality systems ensuring full traceablity and accountability in our operations.

Currently we are progressing towards ISO 14001 and are proud to be supporting British manufacturing as members of both the Aluminium Federation and Made in Britain.

Supporting Your Sustainability Goals

We know our customers are under growing pressure to reduce the environmental footprint of their supply chains. Whether you’re in construction, rail, HVAC, or retail, partnering with Aluminium Shapes can support your own ESG goals through responsible sourcing, traceability, and waste minimisation.

We also offer guidance on material selection, finishing options, and production efficiencies that align with sustainable design and low-impact manufacturing principles.

Together, we can shape a better future – with aluminium at the core.
